What are CAPTCHA images?

As defined in Wikipedia:

"A CAPTCHA is a type of challenge-response test used in computing as an attempt to ensure that the response is generated by a person. The process usually involves one computer (a server) asking a user to complete a simple test which the computer is able to generate and grade. Because other computers are assumed to be unable to solve the CAPTCHA, any user entering a correct solution is presumed to be human."

The principle reason for using CAPTCHA images is to prevent spammers, using automated tools, (repeatedly) filling out forms on websites.

The typical CAPTCHA process means an image, with funny fonts, confusing backgrounds, and random lines or other confounding distractions, is presented to the (human) user who should be able to understand what is in the image and can answer a question about it.

What is CAPTCHA?

Our version of CAPTCHA will only present 6 numbers, vs combinations of letter and numbers. If you are having difficulty interpreting the numbers presented there are 2 options you can utilize:

• selecting the will have the system regenerate the image with 6 new numbers. Note- the regenerate image feature is done with javascript so if you don't allow javascript you will need to use the browser page refresh/reload button (typically ) instead.
• selecting the will give you, after a brief pause, an audio presentation of the numbers (someone reading each number aloud, but with some background noise).

If you fail to enter the correct numbers in the response box, the submission of the form is denied.
