The family will be sitting immediately following the interment until 1:00PM in the Clover Hill Park Shiva Center. Shiva will continue through Friday afternoon at the residence of Linda and Steve Permut, 26392 Huntington Rd. Huntington Woods MI 48070 Phone: (248) 840-2518.

Shiva Hours:
Thursday- from 2:00PM until 5:00PM, then 7:00PM until 9:00PM
Friday- from 2:00PM until 6:00PM.

Religious services: The family is planning to have an informal shiva service and sharing of remembrances shortly after 7pm on Thursday.

Family Members:

Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Ashley. Dear mother of David (Brie) Ashley and Samantha (Tom Katers) Ashley. Loving grandmother of Julian and Lauren Ashley, Joseph and Goldie Katers. Devoted sister of Cindy (Harold) Daitch. Also survived by many other loving family members and friends.

Linda raised her kids in Huntington Woods, but originally she was born and raised in Detroit with love by her treasured parents, Goldie and Israel "Izzy" Levin. Linda studied English and creative writing at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University before embarking on a career in news media at a time when there were few women in the field. With determination and quiet courage, she forged her own path, first as a newspaper journalist and later as a public relations professional. Eventually, she founded her own public relations firm, which she led for more than 30 years. She took great pride in her work and in the relationships she built throughout her career.

Her career was an important part of her identity, however nothing was more important to her than her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud, adoring grandmother. Nothing made her happier than being with her children and grandchildren. Whether she was traveling to New York or Chicago to visit them or simply sitting around the table sharing stories and laughter, those moments filled her heart. She celebrated every milestone, treasured every visit, and made sure that her family felt her love.

She approached life with curiosity and an appreciation for the arts. She eagerly filled her calendar with concerts, theater productions, dance performances, and films. She also believed deeply that each of us has a responsibility to leave the world better than we found it. A lifelong advocate for peace and justice, she dedicated many years to serving as chair of the Huntington Woods Peace, Citizenship and Education Project.

She was devoted to her family and friends and they were devoted to her. She lives on in the family she cherished and the friends whose lives she enriched.
