Family Members:
Allan Becker, 90 passed away on February 18, surrounded by family. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Jonathan Bilmes) and Julie Becker (Alan Silverlieb), grandchildren Eli (Sara), Naomi (Noah Slovin) and Uri Bilmes, Leah Rose Becker, Anna and Rebecca Silverlieb and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years, Patty, and by his daughter, Ruth Becker.

He had degrees from Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. With his PhD in Physics, he began an academic teaching career, but later moved into a field that spoke to him more - workforce development. He finished his career as a partner in APB Associates, a consulting firm he ran with his wife, Patty.

A man of simple needs and tastes, he loved listening to classical music, playing bridge, reading the newspaper, following politics and spending time with his family. He was happiest with his children and grandchildren around him for a Sunday brunch.

A lifelong Detroiter, he was a Tiger fan and followed them nearly his whole life. He mourned the loss of Tiger Stadium, but eagerly attended games at Comerica Park. He made sure that his daughters had a transistor radio as kids, so they could listen to games at night as they went to bed. The 1968 World Series win was a highlight the family shared.

Allan was a member for many years of Birmingham Temple (now Congregation for Humanistic Judaism of Metro Detroit) and over the years enjoyed singing in the choir, taking classes and attending many events. That, and the bridge club were his two favorite places to be outside of his home.
He spent the last 4 years of his life in Washington DC to be near his daughter. Moving there after losing his wife was a huge transition, but one he handled with grace and acceptance.
